In February 1991, Gee Street re-upped a licensing partnership with Island Records and opened a US office in the Island Records building in New York. Richard Branson purchased the label in 1996, and it became a subsidiary of V2 Records. Spawning more underground artists like Ninety-Nine & subsidiaries like Mr. Bongo Records and more.
